Asparagus

Asparagus is a green vegetable that is easily recognizable for its long, pointy spears. Asparagus is typically eight to ten inches in length, Spears with green butts are preferred over the spears with white butts, as white butts are associated with increased toughness. Asparagus has an earthy flavor, similar to broccoli and almost like an intensely flavored green bean. The texture is tender and crunchy. Asparagus is commonly grilled, steamed, or roasted. Asparagus is available year-round.
